Michaelmas Daisies, Asters, like an open airy site in sun or part shade. For the first half of the last century they achieved enormous popularity and whole borders were devoted to their colourful long lasting flowers. Asters fell out of favour with the fashion for ‘cottage gardening,’ where many different types of plant are grown in a more haphazard style. For visitors
to the nurery we have assembled a selection of our favourites. All are free-flowering, colourful and hardy even in the very coldest gardens and on clay.
With Asters your garden will be just as colourful as in the height of summer. Just keep them well fed and divided regularly. Oh! and they are the best plants to feed the bees and butterflies giving a new dimension to the delights of autumn. Many more types of Aster will be available in flower during Michaelmas daisy days at the nursery so pay us a visit and see them in full bloom!
